Our butterfly magic and learning continues in first grade as the children were able to observe a butterfly that had just come out of its chrysalis and participate in setting it free. Thank you to Max's family for finding a Swallowtail caterpillar for us to observe too! The children are enjoying reading in the comfortable seating in the library, and story time with our librarian Mrs. Meyer too!

We had a busy and wonderful week! Please check out the photos of the children working with their stuffed animals on pajama day, and enjoying a Freeze Pop and team building celebration on Tuesday. The children also learned about butterflies from Mr. Shover, a local butterfly expert and former Southeast parent that kindly donated his time, 2 monarch caterpillars and 10 monarch chrysalises to our classroom, and we released our first butterfly this week too!

Our first two weeks of school! The children are off to a wonderful start to first grade. They worked in math centers, read independently during our “Read to Self” time, and met 3 Monarch butterfly caterpillars that we will watch and care for as they go from caterpillars to butterflies. What a wonderful beginning of first grade!
